Opening and Setting Up Your Budda Bag
When you get your Budda Bag, take it indoors and make sure you have plenty of room to open it. Follow these brief instructions for best results.
Opening Your Package
Your Budda Bag comes in a tough, clear plastic wrapping, which is designed to keep everything together and give it some protection during transport. Carefully tear or cut this wrapping from the top end down to the bottom, and dispose of appropriately. Next is a lightweight cotton duffel bag, which you can tear down the side if necessary. Your Buddha Bag cover and setup instructions will be there, so leave them aside for the moment.
The Inner Bag is vacuum-packed and sealed inside a clear (or brown) plastic wrapping. Carefully pierce this wrapping and slide it down the length of the Inner Bag. At this point you may notice that your Inner Bag is slightly damp to the touch – this is perfectly normal and will be explained shortly. Remove the shrink-wrapping completely and set aside for appropriate disposal. Do not unzip the Inner Bag, this will only cause a mess.
Fluff Up and Air Your Inner Bag
Now you should fluff up your Inner Bag for the first time, to allow the air to penetrate the memory foam inside. You may also need to air-dry the fire retardant which has been infused into the Inner Bag during manufacture (this is the possible dampness you may have felt upon opening the package).
For bags up to 5ft (Midi Budda), you can use the “standard” fluffing technique:
- Grab the Inner Bag firmly with both fists, trying to grab as much cloth in your hands as possible (this will minimise the risk of tearing).
2. With a single motion, lift the bag off the floor and push forward, which will start to turn the Inner Bag over, away from you.
3. At the top of the lift, swing the bulk of the Inner Bag towards you again, let go of the bag, open your hands and vigorously massage the top of the bag with both palms.
4. Repeat 3 or 4 times.
For Maxi and Mega Buddas, you must use the “big bag” fluffing technique (for the bag’s safety and for yours!):
1. Grab the Inner Bag firmly with both fists, trying to grab as much cloth in your hands as possible (this will minimise the risk of tearing).
2. Crouch down as low as you can and, with a firm but smooth lifting action, start to “roll” the bag upwards and forwards (away from you).
3. As the bag settles, pat it all over with your palms.
4. Repeat until the bag is upside-down, and then go around the other side and “roll” it back upright in the same fashion.
You should leave your Inner Bag uncovered to air overnight in a well-ventilated area, away from any heat source. Turn the Inner Bag over periodically to allow the underside to air as well. Once aired, put on the cover and fluff it again.
Adding the Cover
To put the cover on your Buddha Bag, unzip your cover and place the bottom (a flat circle) on the floor. Place the Inner Bag on top and gently but firmly pull the sides of the cover up until they reach the zip of the Inner Bag. Now flip the top of the cover over the top of the Inner Bag and bring its sides down to meet the bottom half. Zip up and you’re ready to enjoy your Budda Bag!
